At Bomb Tech Beekeeper we like to keep things simple!
Ken's interaction with each hive is aligned to his training and mentoring received from Hives for Heroes.
He checks on the bees frequently, often using only his voice instead of smoke to calm the bees.

Ken's interaction with each hive is aligned to his training and mentoring received from Hives for Heroes.
He checks on the bees frequently, often using only his voice instead of smoke to calm the bees.
We remove frames of honey from the hives only when we see the bees running out of space. We intentionally leave full frames of honey so the bees will have enough to get thru a cold winter. We could get more honey from these hives nit we choose not to so it's available to maintain the health of the bees.
When we do extract honey, we manually remove the wax caps by hand. Then, we spin the frames to get the honey to drain from the hive frames then we strain it for purity.
When we see a really beautiful honey comb we hand cut it and store it for consumption, to include it within the jats of our honey or just marvel at the wonder of these bees!
So far, it's been a lot of work but a joy to see these amazing insects in motion!
